Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Booking your Currituck vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Corolla:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Putting Green
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a certain Currituck destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
