Currituck rental property booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Selecting the best rental:
- First and foremost, have your group select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Best OBX vacation!4x4 beach, private dock, hot tub, pool, Horses. Pet-Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
