How to book the best rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your Currituck rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Monkey Business: Easy to access ground level condo, located just a short distanc has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
