Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the perfect Currituck vacation home:
- First, have your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanside, 8 BRs, Priv Pool, Pool Table, Close to Beach Access, WW869, Bikini Bottom has 9 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Currituck attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
