Our top Corolla vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Corolla has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
