Tricks and tips to get the perfect Currituck vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer months are high season in Corolla. Booking your Currituck vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing yourrental:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Well-appointed Corolla NC vacation home with short walk to the beach! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Currituck attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
