Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Corolla vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- To get the best value, try shifting your family's Currituck vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental home:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront home walkable to the beach with private pool & hot tub - dog-friendly has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Currituck beach you crave, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
