Tips and Tricks for getting the best Corolla rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Villa Del Sol
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
