Finding the best Corolla vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are high season in Corolla. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. M931- Sound Side, Corolla, Saturday Check In, Comm. Pool! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
