Our top Rental property booking tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Tiki Bar
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
