Tips to get the best rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
