Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Currituck rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Currituck area:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Sandy Toes: No Cleaning Fees, Pets Stay Free, & Beach Parking Pass Included has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you crave, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
