Our top Corolla rental home tips:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanside, Private Pool, Hot Tub, OS4N, Kaerolla Dawn has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
