Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Corolla. To get the best rental within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental home:

- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
