Tips for getting the best rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Corolla:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Dog-friendly oceanside home in Corolla with private pool & hot tub has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
