How to book the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanside 6 BR Corolla home with pool & hot tub! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
