Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Currituck vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Live Oak Landing: Enjoy the sound views, private hot tub, community pool and awe has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Currituck beach you love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
