Booking the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Just A Fluke: Private Pool, Hot Tub, 950 Ft to Beach Access has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
