Getting the best rental home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Wild Horses, Wilder Views: Stunning Carova Canal Front Home has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
