Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Currituck area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the best Currituck vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Game Room
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
