Tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Good Vibrations: Private Pool, Spa, Golf Community has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Currituck attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
