Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the perfect Currituck rental home:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Family Paradise in Corolla: Oceanside, 4bds, Pool\/Spa, Dog-Friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Currituck beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
