Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summertime is high season in Corolla. Booking your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick yourrental:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Currituck Club 108: 4 bedroom home with private pool, hot tub and keyless entry! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
