Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Corolla rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's Currituck trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Crabby Crib: Hot Tub, Community Pool, Foosball Table, Close to Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
