Our top Currituck vacation rental tips:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
