How to find the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Corolla & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in Corolla. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Carolina Freedom: Private Pool, Hot Tub, Sleeps 9 has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
