Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Corolla. Reserve your Currituck rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful Secluded Carova Beach House - Hot tub - Pet yard with access door has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
