Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. To find the largest rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Updated Corolla NC beach house just 400 feet to the beach access! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
