☆☆ GETTING TO THE HOME ☆☆
☀ Essential Car Information/Requirement:
An AWD or 4WD car (Opt for our Shuttle Service if you don't have one) with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance is necessary (e.g., Toyota 4Runner, Lexus GX, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, Chevy Tahoe, and most trucks). Avoid 2WD Vehicles: A tow from the sand costs $400 and consumes vacation time, so a 2WD car is not recommended.
To ensure a smooth arrival, an all-wheel or four-wheel drive car with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance is required! A tow from the sand is $400 and consumes a lot of precious vacation time, so trust us and don’t try the drive in a 2WD car.
Three Convenient Options for Arrival:
Drive Your Own or a Rental 4x4/AWD Car: We recommend local units that allow beach driving. Stop at Historic Corolla Park to reduce tire pressure by 10-15 pounds before driving on the sand. Easier driving conditions are during low tide and cooler temperatures.
Location of Free Air Down Station: 1113 Village Lane, Corolla, NC 27927, USA (Google Maps)
Use Satellite Parking: Park overnight at one of our vendor’s convenient satellite parking locations, about 3 miles from the home. Members of your group with 4x4s can pick you up, ensuring everybody arrives safely and together.
Select from one of our satellite parking spots
Opt for a Third-Party Shuttle Service: For a hassle-complimentary option, a personalized third-event shuttle service is available.

Tips and Tricks to get the best Currituck vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfect Currituck rental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Events
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
