Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Currituck rental & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in Corolla. To book the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your family agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Tipsea Terrapin: Pool, Hot Tub, Golf Course Views has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
