WEATHER Cancellation Policy:
-> -> While we understand that unpredictable weather, including tropical storms, may not be the ideal travel times, we still operate as usual during inclement weather. As such, we do not offer refunds outside of our normal cancellation policy for bad weather conditions. However, should there be a mandatory local or state evacuation order issued for our area, with the need to cancel, please contact Vacation Rental By Owner first to discuss their policy agreed to during the booking process.

If there is a loss of power for a prolonged period of time, we will refund the affected nights.

If our home is damaged and we can not offer accommodations, we will of course refund those affected nights.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, we strongly encourage all guests to consider purchasing travel insurance when booking to best protect your travel plans.

Tips to get the optimal Currituck vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.

  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
