How to find the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your family's Currituck vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. PRIVACY! PRIVACY! ONE OF THE BEST PRICED HOMES IN WHALEHEAD BEACH. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Currituck attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
