Our top Corolla rental home tips:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer is high season in Corolla. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the best vacation home in Corolla:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. PRIVACY! PRIVACY! ONE OF THE BEST PRICED HOMES IN WHALEHEAD BEACH. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
