Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Corolla vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental home in Corolla:
- First, have your family agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. PRIVACY! PRIVACY! ONE OF THE BEST PRICED HOMES IN WHALEHEAD BEACH. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
