Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Booking your Currituck vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Paradise at Blue Fin! New owners Updated. Heat-able pool! 4x4 required has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
