Getting the best Corolla vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective.
