Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Currituck rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Half Past Twelve: Private Saltwater Pool, Currituck Club Amenities has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
