Tricks and tips to get the very best Currituck rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the bestrental:
- First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Gone Coastal: Dog-Friendly (2 max), Private Pool, Sleeps 8 has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
