Strategies to get the very best Currituck rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best rental home in the Currituck area:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Gone Coastal: Dog-Friendly (2 max), Private Pool, Sleeps 8 has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
