Getting the best rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Crazy4Shore: Dog-friendly, Large Private Pool, Hot Tub, 1500 Ft to Beach Access has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
