Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Bubbles Up: New Construction, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
