Strategies to get the very best Currituck rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home in Corolla:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beach Cottage with Ocean & Golf Views... AMAZING!! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
