Tips to get the perfect Corolla vacation home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Dog Friendly, Private Pool, Hot Tub
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
