Strategies to get the optimal Currituck rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Reserve your Currituck vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your group choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. All the amenities of home plus all the joys of the beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is right for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
