Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Currituck rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your group agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 4X4 only! Canal front. Ocean AND sound views! Decks and porches on all levels. has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.

Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
