Our top Vacation rental tips:
When to visit Corolla & When to book:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your Currituck rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. OCEANFRONT, 4-wheel drive area, Wild Horses, Ocean Views! 4x1662, Dolphin Watch has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
