Tricks and tips to get the perfect Corolla vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Pine Island Lodge-- Spectacular 28 BR Oceanfront in Corolla has 28 bedrooms and 34 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Currituck beach you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
