Tricks and tips to get the optimal Currituck vacation property experience:
When to book a Currituck rental & When to go:
- To get the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Island Breeze: Heated Saltwater Pool
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
