Booking the best vacation rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summertime is high season in Corolla. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group commit to the best dates and a budget.
- Rec Room has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If not, call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
