Our top Currituck rental home booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- To book the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, picking, and booking your Currituck rental:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Full House: Dog-friendly, Close to beach in Pine Island has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Currituck destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
