Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Booking your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- 950 ft to the beach
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
