Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Currituck restaurants and activities.
  • In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose yourrental home:

  • Start by having your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. A Pointe Of View: Ocean & Golf Course Views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
