Booking the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Currituck area. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:
- To start, have your family choose vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanside, Wild Horses, 4x4 area, Secluded, 4x2330, Wild Horse Landing has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
