Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4x2330, Wild Horse Landing- Oceanside, Wild Horses, 4x4 area, Secluded has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain Currituck destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
