Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Currituck vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the perfect rental home in Corolla:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanside, Wild Horses, 4x4 area, Secluded, 4x2330, Wild Horse Landing has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
