Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the largest rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Finding the best rental in Corolla:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanside, Wild Horses, 4x4 area, Secluded, 4x2330, Wild Horse Landing has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Currituck destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
