Vacation rental home tips:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking your Currituck rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Semi-Oceanfront, Private Pool, Community Amenities, Screened Porch, BU18, Mellow Yellow has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
